Desert Drives

This simple mini is inspired from a photo taken on a drive from Alice Springs to Melbourne, in Australia’s red centre. My mum calls these “rock eating cows” – what else is there to find for food? We bought a few postcards on this journey, some kept as mementos. And others finding their way to an address far away.

"This series of small works is all about that feeling of seeing something beautiful and
immediately wanting to share it with someone you love.
I’ve always loved the idea of a postcard; a tiny, tangible "wish you were here" sent
from one heart to another. As a kid, I sent a lot of postcards, and it is still something I
find enjoyable as an adult when on holiday.
Each of these landscapes is a little moment captured on a wooden board, designed
to feel like a snapshot you’d tuck into an envelope and send with love. Each one
named after a feeling, a fleeting thought, or an activity while away from home."
